I love debate camps. At any camp you have the opportunity to make new friends, learn new things or just enjoy your independence, but only in debate camps are you actually encouraged to argue. Yes, we want you to talk and share and disagree. We’re happy if you say “no”, “that’s a bad idea” or “I don’t want to do it”. Go on and disagree!
As long as you can tell us why. See, we want you to disagree, but we want you to disagree, and give reasons why you disagree. We want you to persuade us.
The most powerful ideas are whichever ones people believe in. You cannot live a successful or happy life without being able to effectively communicate your ideas, to better understand and to be better understood. Thus at this debate camp, we will give you the skills to
a. Persuade the World. Learn strategies, arguments, tips and tricks to sell any idea, to anyone, anywhere - and make it seem easy.
b. Be a Careful Customer. Everyone is trying to persuade you but which argument will you “buy”? Learn how to use logic to decide who is making more sense
But that’s not all. To give your arguments more power, we will load you up with a lifetime’s supply of Human Rights - knowledge, tools and facts you can use to defend and promote your fundamental rights. Learn what rights are, what laws are protecting and how you can make your world, and the world we share with everyone else, safer, kinder and fairer.
Therefore my friends, by the time you leave the camp, you will not only have new friends, warm memories and an extra bounce in your step, you will also be better at persuading and choosing ideas, and will be equipped with the power of Human Rights.
Now don’t you agree, debate camps are the best camps? It’s okay if you don’t agree, as long as you can give me a reason.
